The patented manner in which the rollers are spring loaded (US Patent # 5,110,270), is the most unique feature of RolaTec peristaltic pumps. There is just one torsion spring at the center of the rotor that spring loads all four rollers. The radial motion of the rollers are linked, so if one roller is pushed in, the rest of the rollers move in a corresponding manner to maintain optimum radial position based upon the wall thickness of the peristaltic tubing being used.

The spring loaded rollers allow the pump to accept tubes with wall sizes ranging from 1/16" to 1/8" thick and it does so in an incredibly efficient manner.

In many instances, the tubing materials swell when dispensing incompatible chemical solutions. The advantage of the spring loaded roller design is that the rollers will automatically reposition themselves during operation to compensate for tube swelling. RolaTec still recommends that you review the Chemical Compatibility Chart to select the best tubing material before pumping a particular chemical.
